Polka Dot Bookmarks
These bookmarks are inspired by the work of Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama, who has a real fondness, if not obsession, with polka dots of every size and colour imaginable. She’s covered everything from floors and canvasses, to naked assistants, but I’m not sure she ever made it to bookmarks. These will, no doubt, make the perfect accompaniment to all those books on your child’s summer reading list.
Salty Bookmarks
Salt crystals have a way of transforming watercolor paintings into the coolest, texture filled creations. The crystals absorb the water surrounding them and push the pigment away, leaving white, speckled patterns behind. Once these paintings are sliced up, they make lovely, unique looking bookmarks that children will love.
Laminated Bookmarks
Making bookmarks is a great activity for children of all ages. They’re a wonderful way to preserve drawings, and they also make really nice gifts.
