You can never run out of ideas for rock painting. It’s such a great activity, and who would have thought an Ikea duvet could provide inspiration (no Allen key required). The idea is to have kids pick up on some of the colours and design elements in their duvet, paint them on the rocks, add their name on top and proudly display them in their bedroom.
Materials
- rocks
- acrylic paint
- brushes
Instructions
1. Time for a trip to the beach or garden centre to select some smooth, clean river rocks; one for each letter of the name you’ll be painting.
2. The base colour of each rock should pick up on colours in the duvet cover being used. Decide on what the base colour will be, and paint each rock with it. Keep in mind they don’t all have to be the same colour. Allow to dry.
2. If any design elements from the duvet cover are being used, they can be added next eg. flowers, stripes, dots, etc. Allow to dry.
3. Black works best for painting letters because it will stand out more than other colours. Paint one letter of your name on each rock, allow to dry, and enjoy.
Oh my gosh, I love this idea! Your photos and painting just grabbed me and pulled me in! Beautiful!

Beautiful! I’ve started a “rock art” board on my pinterest for these kinda ideas. The kids love collecting rocks, but what to do with them after? I think it’s a great idea to paint letter rocks!
Thanks Jessy. On my way to see what you’re up to on Pinterest!
