ORIGAMI HISTORY
Origami is the Japanese art of folding paper into decorative shapes and figures. The word comes from “oru” meaning to fold, and “kami” meaning paper. It is believed to have begun soon after the invention of paper in China (105 AD). Both paper and paper-folding were then introduced to Japan in the sixth century by Buddhist Monks, where its practice was most fully developed. Today, its popularity can be seen throughout the world, among people of all ages, backgrounds, and cultures.
