Pages in old books, newspapers and magazines can provide beautiful canvases for painting. Tracking them down in yard sales and second hand shops is fairly easy, and with a little watercolour paint, they can be turned into something worthy of framing. I recently saw some beautiful examples in a store, and thought it was finally time to give it a try.
- old pages from books, magazines, newspapers
- watercolour paints
This is an easy project which simply involves painting images on old paper. Watercolours are perfect for this because their transparency allows you to see some of the text underneath. And since we all seem to have Halloween on the brain, it provides a great theme for this time of year; one that kids will love! What to do with these paintings once they’re done? You can bind the pages to make a mini book, frame them, or put them inside a sketchbook or journal.
Here are a few photos I took in that change room, so you can see how great they looked framed.
